USA Dedicated Server Request

Hi Guys!

I haven't found a good USA dedicated server at a lower price than Hetzner's server auction.

What I currently have from Hetzner is three of the servers shown below. I would love something similar or even better in the US if I could find it!

Looking especially on the West Coast, but anywhere in the US is fine.

If you or anyone else that you know has something for me, please get in touch.

Thanks!

Tom

Please note that the 64GB RAM is DDR4, not DDR3. Also, please note the double NVMe drives, not just one. And the unlimited bandwidth.

* Location: Germany, FSN1
* Rescue system (English)
* 1 x Primary IPv4, I x IPv6/64

  • I'd love to get one with similar config and price in USA... it would be a steal, right @Not_Oles

    Hi @localhost!

    Sorry, I don't know about "steal." :)

    I mean, I pay my Hetzner bill every month, and I think Hetzner might be profitable.

    German speaking accountant friends can head over to https://www.bundesanzeiger.de/pub/de/start?0 , enter "Hetzner" in the search box and select "Accounting/financial reports" from the drop down. Click "Seek" and then check the first result.

    If Hetzner can do it, somebody in our wonderful US can do it! 🇺🇸

    Always best wishes and kindest regards,

    Tom

    It's impossible to find a dedicated server like that for that price in the United States. Hetzner can do it because they outright own multiple datacenters and decided to somewhat cater to mostly consumers rather than businesses/enterprises like most other datacenters do. The power costs alone in most datacenters will be more than $20 USD for that server. The transit for 1 Gbps alone is more than $20 USD. I will eat a shoe if you can find a dedicated server at that pricing in the United States.

    Hetzner has MASSIVE scale and decided to dive into consumer hardware, there are some other providers like OVHCloud that are similar (who also similarly own datacenters and offer dedicated servers), but it will not even come close to the pricing of Hetzner, probably because it doesn't really make sense. While OVHCloud somewhat caters to consumers, they also have a LOT of b2b/enterprise, and that probably represents a majority of their business (clients who can pay a lot of money). Hetzner is an extremely massive company with massive scale, even coming to the point where they have their own custom motherboards, chassis, cooling, and more for each of their servers. No other company in the US will ever come close to the level of pricing of those older auction servers.

    If you increase your budget to $60, there may be some more (but still extremely limited) options.

    There are a few providers in Kansas City that do ancient dedi for sub $20 per month.

    Like, core2duo level.

    Those prices are tough to beat, especially with un-metered 1G. But we have a few Xeon v4 dedicated servers in San Francisco, which will be up, in the next few days. They start at 49$

    So wait a second, hold the boat! All I have to do to see you eat a shoe, is give @Not_Oles a comparable server at my US datacenter at that price or lower?? Will you post a video???? Curious what the terms of the agreement are here :lol:

    This server from Hetzner is currently going to €32.96 on their site. I would also say, since you have a hard time finding this type of deal outside of a few (one?) providers is indicative that it is likely not a profitable configuration.

    Basically this here. They have rack space empty and X rack isn't at capacity, the way this server is configured it uses little amps on this circuit, so for them its just dead inventory creating small monthly extra.

    Its not easy to find a provider doing the same thing, its chance really.

    Hello!

    I am bouncing this thread because I have a couple of days to decide whether I want to switch one of my Hetzner bare metal dedicated servers in Germany for a server in the US. Looking especially in the Southwest, but anywhere in the US probably is fine.

    Budget could be increased if somebody has a server attached to a router and wants to teach me about the router. By "router" I mean something like Juniper or Arista or similar.

    Does anybody in the 🇺🇸🗽US🗽🇺🇸 have something for me?

    Thanks guys! Best wishes!

  • Configurations, but not price. Cheapest I saw was $49 which is significantly above the $28 being asked for. I think the request is quite unrealistic, but still wouldn't call you "close".
