Favourite ssh app for Mac?

Which one is your favourite? something similar to putty?

I am using Cyberduck, was wondering if there is any better alternatives?

Too bad they charge $100/year for the sync function, only useful thing I like about it.

Same to others which also charge for "sync" thing. Ex: SecureCRT ~ 99$/year,... That's the only way they make money. BTW, free version is fair enough to me :D

  • Native OSX Terminal. Don’t see the need for anything else

Are you looking for an SFTP client? I didn't think Cyberduck supported interactive SSH sessions.

  • ssh is very nice

Hey! @Lee I know you can appreciate that I am joking when I mention that terminal doesn't work too well for uploading files to some web hosting services. :-) Or for editing a file right there on some-hosting-service's server. :-)

Wanna let me have ssh? I have a little file that I'd like to move off $BIG_CLOUD.

I hope everyone gets the servers they want!

  • iTerm2 is a better Terminal. Keeping ~/.ssh/config in sync between hosts ain't hard. :) For remote edit editors like BBEdit has builtin (s)ftp, you can also use various dedicated ftp apps, or for Sublime/Textmate you can setup a tunnel for your connections and use rmate ... Many options. (I didn't even know Cyberduck had a terminal.)

For (s)ftp file transfers I really like Fetch, but also you can use tools like Nimble Commander, Crax etc.

I miss BBEdit. I don't miss most Mac shit, but BBEdit was awesome.

SecureCRT is one time though to get updates you need to pay extra but that's also cheap, don't remember as I think I paid for updates about 2 years for 3-4 years in advance, but I think it was about 60-70$ for 3 years of updates

  • My favorite SSH app for Windows OS is Bitvise SSH, and have been sticking to it for long. Haven't got one similar with Mac OS.

Bitvise has SFTP integrated so when typing commands I can also upload and download via its SFTP module just like I've been using FlashFXP.

It would be great that there are alternatives like this and also offer free packages/versions.

  • When I am using my Macbook, I just use the included SSH client, plus brew with mosh if needed if I'm on a bad internet connection. For file transfers I just rsync (again with brew), or if I'm feeling lazy, Filezilla SFTP.

Cheap dedis are my drug, and I'm too far gone to turn back.

I’d been searching for an alternative but couldn’t really find one, so I’ve stayed with default terminal.

  • brew cask install iterm2
