    Not sure if I should do this but these are the SHA256 hash of the random generator seed for fairness purpose, the actual seed will be announced when we hit the target.

    Round Range Hash

    This is the code to select a random user:

    const seedrandom = require('seedrandom');

    function selectWinner(seed, username, total) {
      const rng = seedrandom(seed + '_' + username);
      return Math.ceil(rng() * total);
    }

    When the function above is called, username will be populated with the user with ID at the upper bound of the range.

    For example, to select a winner for Round 3, the function call will be selectWinner('some_seed', 'username_of_the_user_with_id_500', 500)

    I am just trying to help, I can choose not to do so too. There might be complex mathematics and proofs to show that the algorithm is not equally distributed, but I don't think it is necessary to do so. I am quite skeptical about stuff so I always try to ensure fairness.

    In addition, how can this be backdoored with few lines of codes? There's no known SHA256 collision yet, the seed is pre-determined even without knowing the upcoming users. In addition, the algorithm above depends on the latest registered user, how can I be sure who will be the X-th user?

    If you insist on me winning something, feel free to take my VPS and enjoy your day.

    Edit: I am not trying to start a drama here, but someone else choose to do so. I can tell you it is so much easier to fake a random.org than my algorithm. Self-sign a SSL certificate, point the IP to your own, and boom you can fake the result.

    If needed, I would rather lose a few bucks per month than being falsely accused as a cheater.

  • @FAT32 No accusation from my side. Just asked out of curiosity and maybe a little jealousy, hoping it was idling on your hand.
