  • Hmm, from what I look the function is similar with pihole GUI..

A simple uptime dashboard using UptimeRobot API https://upy.duo.ovh
Currently using VPS from BuyVM, GreenCloudVPS, Gullo's, Hetzner, HostHatch, InceptionHosting, LetBox, MaxKVM, MrVM, VirMach.

FYI lots of comparisons on reddit

  • Yep. I've replaced Pi-hole with Adhole on my network :)

  • I leave Pi-Hole for Adguard because it only need less than 5 minutes to get a working DOT server.

  • I've got AdGuard's family package for 9 devices and it works great for mobile devices. I don't use it on desktop as I got Diversion going on the router level and Ublock Origin on the browser level just in case.

    DOS = HIGH?!?
I knew it was on something!

  • I also use it, both at home and on a VPS. Love it. Added Letsencrypt and boom, DNS-over-TLS was ready.

  • Adguard Home support more filter format and DoT DoH .

    Action and Reaction in history

  • I have tried AdGuard Home about a year ago and found that it didn't block ads as good as pihole right out the box. Not sure if its a different story now.

    What's a DOT server?

Easy to create custom lists/rules for different IP's/networks/clients?

How do you guys set this up to work with mobile? Require VPN/wireguard to connect?
(Would have to keep Wireguard on most of the time, then.)
I don't want to keep DNS open to public ...

  • DNS-over-TLS

@flips if you use Android 9 above, use the built in Private DNS setting (that's for DNS over TLS). Otherwise, Wireguard.

But if you have static IP, you can set it to only allow connection from your IPs

    Yep and yep.
Thats my setup. (you can have adguard/pihile listen only on wg0)
one less thing to worry about : good clean dns as long as tunnel is UP.

  • Will it run on aws EC2 micro instance if yes what ports i need to unblock in firewall

    Want free vps ? https://microlxc.net
