You all are carrying devices in your pocket that you use every chance you get that shows ads. Singapore elevators installed monitors that shows ads. Billboard posters shows ads. Every website shows ads. So ads are now a part of life. Soon, you'll get neural implants that'll show you ads and we'll get to enjoy cyberpunk lifestyle.
that is actually not really new. they "tested" it at least last years halloween already, with a similar "treat" movie.
and it seems to work for now, probably because it is rare and surprising. my wife got it shown yesterday and was instantly wanting to go to the movies, so...
about the line, that has been crossed, aren't Elons rolling power banks displaying sh*t all the time anyways? I somehow doubt BMW is the first to start that.
I just can't Image paying 100k for a car, and it showing me advertising, I don't care if it's BMW or LADA or Ford, for me that's just to much.
I still peacefully drive a diesel car with my own music or dvds so this feels wild to me.

The line has already been crossed a long time ago. A lot of modern cars these days have a lot of technology/software that the car manufacturer can control over the air. It doesn't really feel like that you "own" your car anymore. To be honest, I'm not really the type of person to care about an advertisement too much, but I can see why it is bothersome, especially on a luxury vehicle.
@Falzo I don't think Tesla has ever forced you to watch a commercial like BMW has done here, but they did have a promotion for Tron (the movie) at some point. It changed how the dashboard looked and how the turn signals sounded. It is arguably less egregious because it was opt-in and had reasonable effort put in.

Well, as mentioned in the article, you get option to not watch. The user had to press the button to watch. I did watch halloween "ad" when I was in the car waiting for my family, it was kind of a surprise, but I was not forced to watch. I wonder, is my car too old for spider man ad, or is Lithuania out of the list of countries?
Anyways, Ibdon't see the big problem here when you have the decision to watch in your own hands.
It would be great if BMW could get license on content instead of an Ads. I remember drive-in theater being featured on my comic books.
It's a terrible decision/ marketing flop.
That would be a great use of all the big screens and HK/B&O sound systems, but it uses LTE, so if many people would gather in a single parking lot, they might satturate the network. Anyways, interesting idea

Just buy a Mercedes Benz, if you need anything German. BMW are just not that good. Ask any mechanic worth their salt.

I can't stomach movie theater of today. Lot's of people using their phone at high brightness, noises, doing live commentary, etc.
Back when I was still a small child, going to movie is a treat. Most house don't own 40-50" tv, let alone high quality projector. So, either you behave or parents won't let you see the movie. Drive-in revival would be great.
As for LTE, I suppose it's good enough for HD audio.
The only transistors in the Ibiza 1999 are in its single ECU box under the hood, anything else is made of relays, pumps and thermocouples. This car can't show me your ads Ahah
...but I do get flyers under the wipers. No one should be allowed to lift my wipers, they are historical relics at this point. I should get a mailbox for this.

Yuck. Proton and Perdua are ghetto. Don't they use Mitsubishi motors anyways? I know one of those two Malaysian brands do. And stop pretending that Singapore makes anything (local brand). Just buy a Japanese car, like a Toyota Camry or Crown. Mr. Miyagi approves this. Let's face it, every Asian, deep in their heart wants to be Japanese anyways.

Also, honestly speaking, Singapore "imports" everything so malaysia made things are "local" here. Speaking of which, it's rare to see a Singapore registered Proton/Perdua here. I see more rolls royce then those two brands...
